The request
Modernising the management of skips in the field
MSE Metal Service Ecologic SA, a company active for over thirty years in the collection, transport and treatment of industrial waste, needed to modernise and optimise the operational management of its skips spread across the territory.
Manual management made it hard to monitor in real time where each skip was, its status and the operations carried out by drivers. This meant limited operational visibility, organisational complexity and less efficient handling of deliveries, collections, returns to the depot and the related documentation.
The goal was to create an integrated digital system able to centralise control of the skips and their delivery notes, improve internal coordination and offer a simple, effective tool for both administrators and operators in the field.
The process
From operational flow analysis to an integrated platform
- 01
Needs analysis
We analysed MSE’s operational flows, studying the full skip management cycle: assignment, delivery, collection, return, monitoring and management of the related delivery notes. The goal was to find a solution that would simplify the drivers’ daily work and improve operational and administrative control for MSE staff.
- 02
User experience design
We designed an intuitive, immediate ecosystem made up of an admin webapp and a mobile app for drivers. The interface was built to be easy to use even in dynamic operational settings, ensuring speed and clarity in everyday operations.
- 03
App development
We developed an integrated digital solution based on QR codes, geolocation, real-time updates and digital management of delivery notes, giving MSE full operational control of its skips and the associated documentation directly from the platform.
The solution
An integrated platform for skips, drivers and delivery notes
We built a complete platform made up of an admin webapp for MSE staff and a mobile app dedicated to drivers.
-
Admin webapp
The webapp is the operational control centre of the whole system. Administrators can see every skip on an interactive real-time map, monitor the status, position and operational history of each skip, assign deliveries and collections to drivers, and link skips, customers, addresses and operational notes.
From the same platform they create and manage the delivery notes for each activity, handle skips returned to the depot and make them available again, and check any incomplete deliveries or pending operations.
Every skip is identified by a unique QR code, physically printed and linked to the management system. Thanks to this centralisation, MSE now has complete, up-to-date control over its entire field operation.
-
Mobile app for operators
The mobile app is the drivers’ daily operational tool. Through the app, operators see their assigned activities, record deliveries, collections and returns, scan the QR code on each skip and automatically update GPS position, time and operational status.
They can also view the delivery notes linked to each activity, collect the customer’s signature on site, add notes and confirm operations.
As soon as a code is scanned, the skip’s position is updated in real time on the admin webapp map, ensuring immediate traceability and constant monitoring. The app was designed to be fast, intuitive and reliable even during field operations.
-
Digital delivery notes
The platform covers the entire process of creating, signing, checking and distributing delivery notes. Administrators create the notes directly in the webapp and link them to the relevant activities. When the driver is at the customer’s site, they can open the note from the mobile app and collect the signature on the spot.
The signed document is immediately available to the administration, which can check the data, make any changes and confirm it. Once validated, the note can be sent manually or automatically, both to MSE’s management system and directly to the customer by email.
In this way the entire document flow is integrated with the operational one, reducing manual steps and ensuring greater traceability of the work carried out.
-
Process digitalisation
The platform has allowed MSE to digitalise and centralise the management of its skips and the related documentation, removing most of the operational complexity tied to manual monitoring and management.
The system was built on a modular, scalable architecture designed to evolve over time and integrate new operational and administrative features. Particular attention went to data security, real-time updates, traceability of operations and documents, ease of use, operational reliability on the move and integration with existing management systems.
The result
Centralised control and more efficient operations
The new solution has significantly improved the control and management of skips in the field, allowing MSE to optimise internal processes and increase operational efficiency.
Administrators now have a centralised, up-to-date view of the whole operation, while drivers can manage deliveries, collections and delivery notes faster, more accurately and in a more organised way.
Digital delivery notes also link the work carried out in the field directly to its documentation: from creation to the customer’s signature, through administrative checks, to sending it to the management system and the customer.
In short, the project allowed MSE to turn a complex operational and documentary process into a modern, reliable digital system that fits the company’s everyday needs.
